At least 55 Barnard students were placed on interim suspension for participating in Columbia’s protest encampment, according to a statement from Barnard’s Student Government Association. Barnard College said it reached resolutions with “nearly all students who were previously placed on interim suspension” for participating in the protest encampment on Columbia’s campus. Around 40 of the approximately 100 people who set up a pro-Palestinian encampment at the Auraria Campus in Denver were arrested Friday, the campus said in a statement. Though not officially part of OHNY, on Saturday, 11am–3pm, the Quaker Cemetery in Prospect Park will host an open house. It is a unique 10-acre landscape that is separate from, but surrounded by Prospect Park and is still an active cemetery owned and maintained by the New York Quaker Meeting.

Our embrace of an open city is as much about people as it is about place. As we continue our work to broaden and deepen an understanding and appreciation of the richness of diversity and experiences that define our city, we are also developing initiatives that prioritize equity and inclusion. Building on our expanded mission to promote citywide access to all New Yorkers, the festival is now 100% free to the public.
These pages are left publicly viewable to preserve institutional memory and to allow the public to learn more about the types of programs, activities, and content created and made available by the South Street Seaport Museum throughout its history. You’ll enjoy a festive night surrounded by a community of New Yorkers who share your love of the city—and your support will help us unlock the city for three day’s of behind-the-scenes access during OHNY Weekend. More than 85,000 New Yorkers and visitors from around the world participate in the two-day festival each year, which is made possible with the help of more than 1,200 volunteers. The inaugural Open House New York Weekend was held in 2003 as part of the city’s first Architecture Week. With the help of 300 volunteers, that event included 84 sites in all five boroughs.
In addition to just having the opportunity to view these places, OHNY will also host 350+ talks, tours, special behind-the-scenes programs, and more! This year’s weekend lineup will be released on their website on October 5th. During OHNY 2021, the former Goethe House New York German cultural center and ambassador’s home will offer guided walking tours, lectures, and talks by architects and historians through the Upper East Side. Our very own Justin Rivers, Untapped New York’s Chief Experience Officer will host the tour “Inside 1014 Fifth Avenue & The Hidden Histories of Fifth Avenue’s Gilded Age Mansion” three times over the weekend. With the help of a dedicated board and volunteers, OHNY became an important platform for celebrating New York at a critical moment in its history.
